Wagner Flexio 590 (Flaw)

Leaks like crazy first time using it. Brand new out the box. Bought it yesterday (3 June 2013). Taking it back. -------- After taking it back to the store I found out that there is a stopper in the opening. Yes this sprayer does spray thick paints, but it will clog if the paint has any strings of dry paint. I am thinking that those strings of paint stopped the plunger/stopper from working. The plunger resets once the trigger is released. once I saw the floor models I could see how it worked. I feel that was a bad design. This gun when working correctly worked great/outstanding. once it clogged it made a mess of the work area. I returned this and bought a Graco TrueCoat Plus II. 100 dollars more in price and I will be doing a review on it tomorrow.-------

Bought one(based on a different video) Used it for a day spraying out thinned latex paint. It worked pretty well. After 6 hours use the blower failed. I let it sit while we had lunch. After returning, it ran another few seconds and would not restart. Returned it and bought another. 2 hours use and it blew red sparks out the nozzle and died a similar death.

Okay let me help everyone out:
1. When you get your gun, make sure that all of your pieces fit securely and if there is a packing(o-ring) required anywhere, make sue it is in and not pinched.
2. Make sure that you thin the paint that you are using in a separate container and make sure that it is mixed very well.
3. Before putting the THINNED paint into the sprayer, use a strainer to keep any clumps from getting into your feed line and clogging it or making the spray inconsistent.
4. Know your settings, adjust the flow/air power/pattern before you start spraying on target.
5. You are better off spraying 3-4 thin coats for a nice smooth finish rather than just swamping it on there.
6. Establish a nice smooth spray pattern that overlaps about 50% and don't stop while the trigger is pulled.
Note: for thinning, use the appropriate thinner... if it is a water based paint, thin it with water. Hope this helps.
I use to paint helicopters for a living and have dabbled with quite a few HVLP guns and even though this is nothing like it, the same concept applies. -
Had a similar issue. The plastic part the "needle" sets in cracked. I contacted Wagner and they replaced the broken part the first time. Then it did it again. I found that when reassembling everything, you have to be very sure everything is lined up when tightening the nut down. Unfortunately they don't sell replacements for what breaks. I had to go and buy a whole new canister assembly. Glad I only use this thing outside and very rarely anymore. Junk plastic.

The flaw is in the way the gun was reassembled after cleaning. View the instruction video on you tube to ensure the small parts in the nozzle were reassembled correctly. This very "leakage" event is addressed there and easily remedied.

My project with this Wagner 590 was a disaster. The gun kept spitting out paint all over when I stopped spraying. After one side of the wall, I switched back to roller. I wasted my time, paint and money to buy this Wagner 590.

I have the same problem! Brand new unit. Spewed paint globs all over my project!!!!
-
You mean I gotta read the instructions? Hope there's a lot of pictures.

My opinion don't waist your money. Purchased this a while ago. Used it one time. All it did was waste my time. Had to use rollers to get job done. Did not spray good at all. When spraying it left a lot of splatter. Also when you set it down for a few minutes it leaks out the nozzle profusely. Clean up takes a bare minimum of a half hour due to the mess it makes. Took it back the next day.

you forgot to tighten the front cap, read the tab when you first opened it
-
I don't like the fact that every time I push the trigger, some paint would come spitting out like a water gun.

rofl

Mine just stopped. It started a couple of times only to stop again. The unit was treated with care and as you pull the trigger nothing happens, and sometimes it runs for a minute. Then silence

I bought this same product and it did the same thing. I got pissed off and thinking something was wrong with it too. So I took it apart and cleaned it thinking I'm going to return it. Next morning after I put it back together and said what the heck I give it a shot. Well it worked beautifully. Just finished painting the room amd it came out perfect. Maybe Wagner didn't tighten all the parts but it works.

Hey there I noticed with Wagner products that this will happen if the black cap part is not tightened. When I first bought Wagner models (i use flexio 570) I noticed that I have to take off the yellow clip piece first and then tighten the black cap all the way. Then put the yellow ring on to adjust pattern.
This solved leak problem as well as spattering of spray. Also remember the further you are the wider the pattern which can cause bigger spatters - keep at least 4-6 inches away from wall for smoothness (house paint).
Hope that helps, I really like this affordable gun:) -
the spray nozzle is either not assembled correctly or not sufficiently tightened. Or of course... there's a broken part in the spray nozzle. this sprayer does not inherently leak.

If it is user error how do you fix it? Ive read all instructions.
-
Operator/owner error.
-
There is nothing wrong with the gun, just the person using it. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!
-
All that is wrong is the nozzle retainer ring is not tight. You need to pull the trigger prior to tightening the ring so the nozzle can seat all the way back. Then when you release the trigger the needle will shut off the flow of paint. Not rocket science...

All these comments saying they had the same problem but so many say it is a operator error. When you buy something new and have problems like this you should return it and not fix it yourself. The company needs to know what bugs they have in their products so that they can improve the product. I bought a different spray gun from a different company and it worked as expected also cost a little more but I am happy now. I just showed the problem I had with the one I bought. I wanted to paint not be in the paint gun repair business.
