I’ve got the S8 on test for a forthcoming feature on DJTechtools.com, and am finding I need to spend plenty of time on it, so I can get my head around it; there’s a lot going on… The mix is live and unplanned, so please forgive the odd flub here and there. ;) I also rushed to get the cameras set up, and so the shots aren't as in focus as I'd like, and the overhead one stopped midway through, so you get a lot of me bopping around until I noticed. Sorry about that! Before anyone comments about me using sync - check out the older videos on my channel to see me mixing on various different formats without sync - but the S8 is designed around the multi-deck/remix-deck/sync paradigm, and I’m not going to shy away from that. if this dude had uploaded the video without actual footage of him mixing but just the music on its own, you wouldent hear anyone complaining about the way he uses his S8. its what comes out guys, not how it comes out. the only line to draw is premade mixes. other then that the S8 is designed to sync, hense the lack of jogwheels. and using 4 decks to create a specific sound for a dj is the future.

I guarantee that the people who are championing sync DJs in this thread have shit music taste as well. Carl Cox and the selection of "tech house" found in this "mix" is not underground music by any stretch of the imagination. More likely than not, this crap tech house was produced by sync DJs...you can hear it. Keep digging!! For anyone curious to see some real underground DJing check out videos of Ricardo or Rhadoo or tINI and all of their offshoots, also anyone coming out of the Romanian minimal/micro scene

i have an s8 and i love it , u dnt have to use sync, u can beatmatch manually , build quality is excellent , its big , and can do everything a 1000$ piece of equipment should, im going to add 2 xdj1000 or 750s. because i do miss jog wheels but getting used to the touch strips wasnt a big deal at all

Just ordered one of these tonight after massive amounts of research. Almost walked out guitar center with DDJ sx2. So glad I waited. This thing is the future. Very clean mix too man. Would love to see you do a stems mix. I subbed.

on a positive note amongst the haters of midi controllers minus the platters...i love the idea n concept behind this setup and as i am using an olskool style midi i.e the vestax vci 400 i love how this new system is setup and has no platters as i sometimes feel i could be doing alot more adjusting with loops and effectswhereas on my vci 400 i have to keep adjusting the pitch which im sure alot of oldskool djs would love and keep that style of djing..but imo i feels its impossible to manage so much whilles having to constantly deal with correctness of keeping the tunes in the right pitch.....

Im an old 38y/o DJ :) and I don't need to prove to anyone that I can beat match two records anymore so Im going all in on this..My turntables are old and don't work so well anymore and do not want to spend the money on repairing them. I mostly buy digital now. The only thing I do not like about this beast is that they didn't use pitch sliders where you can actually grab onto it..The real art of djing is taking the listener on a journey and thank goodness they cant make technology that can take that human touch away.

Nice mix man. Could understand the s8's remix decks a bit better like this. But from what I saw in the D2 review, you don't like the remix stuff? I didn't find it that bad in this mix.

SOOOOO MUCH SYNC!!! Dude, if your gonna get rid of jog wheels and use sync, might as well put the S8 to use besides using a horribly looped Remix Deck sample and lazy timed loop intro's.
Take it above and beyond what we CDJ and Club DJ's do. Like have a 3rd deck open for acapellas and beat mash them. You look like your struggling so hard to be busy. Your not challenging yourself and the tools in front of you. -
