When painting large flat surfaces such as a hood or bed cap on a pickup truck is it best to remove them and stand them up vertical for better paint job?

Uhhh Yeah I spray Aerospace and am an expert on HVLP , I am going to choose not to comment. I never wide open everything, When you open everything up all the way you reduce the velocity of your air flow, You have maximum jet velocity at zero spray and round, Its not just about making a football shape, everyone knows that, Its on the box. There is a lot more to it than just making that shape. For one you dont have a regulator on the gun and thats a cheap gun. From Harbor Freight, You need an air regulator and a moisture trap. Another thing is , did you see the splatter on the edges of the spray? That is caused from not having the right velocity of air flow. You want to not just have the paint flow wide open , you want only a certain amount to come out so that you get a fine finish not a clumpy and textured finish. I have never seen anyone give instructions to just open up everything, Thats not professionalism. I am only saying this because anyone who watches this video will be making the same mistake.

Actually I tried to be a Eastwood guy, sent them some questions about a product and they did not even bother to reply. So i guess i wont be one or buy anything from them. Sean Walker

Don't click on the "Click here to buy" button, it takes you to the cleaner not to the gun.

I have only painted one car doing my second car now i was told the spray pattern should be a hand span fan and you wind the liquid out 2.5 turns and i was told 35 to 40 psi

I was wondering about "choking the fluid". when spraying metal flake and pearls do you cut it down or leave it wide open as well? I've been doing metal flake lately with it wide open normally. but is there a different way or better way.

Quick Question? Can This Spray Gun Be Used With Plasti Dip?
-
So i should hold open the air and dial up the PSI to 20 while the air is open. So essentially when closed the PSI will be something like 40 ?

Some good basic tips for beginners or novices. You would want the gun to shoot out a small blob, like the gun was initially adjust for, to get into tight places. For example, I am going to shoot the inside of an old 70s truck fender, actually the bottom side of the top fender. I would need to adjust the gun to make a small blob pattern to prevent drenching the area as it is only about 5" wide. For the exterior of the vehicle you would want to adjust the gun to shoot a pattern like the wide fan pattern he showed us. Thumbs up on the demo!

Hmm, this explains why i oversprayed so much.
50psi at the gun was too much.
