I use 517 tips and I start whit the ledge never use brush (start whit the ledge and go more fast after u turn whit normal speed 1/3 ledge 2/3 door and finish whit the other ledge (dont stop and start paint (paint 1 shot=good finish)

Great!

For much better surface quality, air assisted airless gun, with Graco G15 or G40 gun..
-
Thank for doing this, much appreciated. I just wondered, in terms of finish is it better to use a brush or a spray? forgive me if it's a stupid question but I don't know anything about painting so just learning.

Mmmmmmmm!
I really liked the extra pass down the left side of the door. Classy. -
A 515 tip, a door, and a guy with poor gun skills!!!
What a combination!!!
That may work on Aussie job sites mate, but don't ever look for a job where they know what they're doing. -
A 515 tip?? A 10" fan for a door?
-
You can put oil based paint over water based paint but you can't put water based paint over freshly painted oil based paint. You can use water based primers/undercoats on old oil based paints.
-
What's a door stucker?
-
Oil based top coats? What about the undercoats? Are they oil too? You can't put oil based over latex, am I right?
-
I haven't used a truecoat sprayer so I can't comment on that fairly. Tip size is one of the most important things when spraying so maybe your tip was too large or too small. Truecoat sprayers are designed for painting smaller areas and are convenient as they don't take as long to clean out. Large airless sprayers are designed to pump out lots of paint, used correctly there shouldn't be too much difference with the overall finish from either sprayer.

Does this airless work better then those cupguns like graco truecoat cuzz I used a cup gun and it was horrible is the airless better

Having a extraction fan is a great idea, it removes the dust from the room rather then just blowing it around. When you said fan yesterday I was picturing a fan on a stand sitting in the room blowing dust every where. I spray all my doors with oil-based top coats so I tend to spray them at the end of the day so they are dry the following morning.
-
i use fans all the time i use two rooms both clean and dust free one with a fan extraction dust out the window where all my spraying takes place then with the use of door stuckers am able to transfer the doors to the next room where the airflow is good and fan is pointing at the ceiling
-
When spraying its best not to have a fan going as this will only blow the dust around and while actually spraying you want the paint to stay wet until you have finished. I find a small fan heater works well, increases temperature and generates some airflow.
-
Door stuckers and a fan for airflow with air circulation in the room alot more better finish and drying time quicker

I just added a video response to this video, its spaying a door with oil based paint.
-
Great video, the final result is what really matters the door looks great from here a bigger tip more or less pressure does not matter if you understand the time of your equipment and the sunrround aerea, keep posting ; )
-
It might sound a bit like there is too much pressure but it was fine (empty room echos), as for tip I do say at the beginning of video that its a large tip.
