You Sir, are awesome. Fixed my Solo sprayer in 5mins. Put in some hot water, then high pressure hose at the internal screen, then back up the spray handle hose. Fixed!! Thanks man, I had people telling me to buy kits etc... Just needed a clean, first one in 10yrs LOL. Works great again. Ta

I'm calling BS! Roundup and hard water will sometimes make globs of gunk and it's a real pain. the solutions in this video are not good solutions. easiest is you might be able to reach a tiny brush to the screen from inside the tank but probably not real effective. You don't have to remove the pressure cylinder like some say. You can blow the clog back into the tank and rinse it out that way, but forcing water up through the hose can't work because there are valves in the pump that would prevent any water from going that direction. You'll have to remove the pump (unscrews with difficulty). The piston is easy to take out but that won't do it. You have to get the valves. You can then blow the clog out with a garden hose. Making a seal is tricky but with enough pressure and covering it with your hand, it will probably work. One more tip: while you've got everything unscrewed, apply some plumbing silicone lubricant to all the o-rings, gaskets, and pump pistons you can find before reassembly. That stuff makes all these spray doohickies work better and seal better. Get some to keep on hand. (apply some to the gasket in the lid to prevent leaks there too). Oh, and make damn sure you keep all those parts clean. Dirt will wreck that stuff.

WOW, what a great tip. You are actually supposed to clean these sprayers right? Had NO IDEA LOL LOL LOL LOL Here's another tip. After you shit you WIPE YOUR ASS. Need to make me a video of that one.

My solo pro is leaking from the top threads I believe. Will try to resolve with Teflon tape

Awesome! Saved me a bundle. . .I owe ya' one mate.

Thanks for the video mate.
I tried what you said and it wasn't the mail screen. I read Titanup224's comment below and found some white sticky blockage in the screen in the tip. Apparently Roundup forms a residue when it dried in the tank and it blocked up the sprayer tip screen. I almost tossed the whole thing and bought a new one. Wow, just saved on buying a new one. Your guys are the greatest. -
Very helpful; while it got some flow going, what also helped to get it completely clear was grabbing an old toothbrush, reaching in there, positioning it horizontal, and scrubbing the screen. Without this video, I wouldn't have known where that intake screen was and probably would've taken the whole dang thing apart.

Very helpful, thanks for taking the time and effort mate!

F'n heck. I've just pulled mine to bits only to find no problem!! EXCEPT it was full of sludge so I'm guessing it's this blocked filter !!!!
-
how do you prevent a nozzle from dripping?

Does anyone know how the cylinder comes away from the filter? Mine seems to be jammed inside want to take it apart to change seals? Any replys welcome

I was just in the process of disassembly and thought- there must be something on the Internet- doh, should have done that first. Anyway about to go and try to flush the blockage with the hose. Thanks.
Update, yep I put it back together flushed it like you said and pumped at the same time, first time , no result. Did it again and all of a sudden it sprayed. however, since I had put it back together after having tried to hammer the assembly out, it did leak like a sieve. Took a couple of disassemblies to get the O-ring to seat properly and reverse hammered with a small 1" sq face length of wood (and a hammer) to ensure it seated properly. Sealed OK but then it leaked from where the hose attached.
Couldn't see anything wrong, tried to re-clamp a couple of times (my unit is quite a few years old but has always been stored in a shed and always flushed) so cut off 3/4 " of the hose so it was re-clamping on a "new" piece of hose and -success. Saved myself a couple of hundred or more, here in Australia at least. Thanks for the flushing tip.
Almost 3 years after your post it is still helping people - well done! -
how to replace the pin that attaches the pumping lever to Solo 475

VERY helpful video. I love my Solo, however it has clogged up with that white sludge you are talking about. My clog, thought, was caught in the small screen/filter found in the tip of the nozzle. When I removed the tip - it flowed rather well. I'm off to the hardware store hoping they sell just those little screens.
--Weed killers get those white clogs in them? Looks like we need to drain the unit after every use??? Or, is it that, like the lazy idiot I am - leaving the "killer" in the unit over the winter is what is causing the white clumps??? Thanks so much for this vid and thread. (I WILL try to clean out the internal filter with a garden hose before I go back to using it.) -
Thank you ! You saved me time, effort and money !

I love YouTube. Lol. I ran to 3 stores to finally get the right kit for my solo 475 only to get home and find the instructions are CRAP! Wouldn't come apart as it said it should. So I remembered all problems have a solution on YouTube. Got my iPhone and found YOU. It took me about ten minutes to reassemble what I had taken apart and did what you said to do AND cleaned the spray tip filter. Both filters had the white slimy gunk on it. Thank you. Your awesome!
