Serato vs Traktor vs Virtual DJ

Serato vs Traktor vs Virtual DJ. When you decide that you want to DJ with turntables (or CD players), but you also want to be able to take advantage of the new technological developments, a DVS (Digital Vinyl System) is your best option. The three best known (and most used) systems are Serato DJ (or Scratch Live), Traktor Pro (or Scratch) and Virtual DJ. How do you choose which system is right for you? Is there a 'best' system? Serato and Traktor are considered to be the professional options and even though Virtual DJ has the reputation for being the lesser system, it is without a doubt a complete system with lots of functionality. In my opinion the choice would still be between Serato and Traktor and I see a strong resemblance to the IOS vs Android discussion that has been going on forever. I feel that there is no best system, but that there are clear differences between the two system and each has it's own vibe and philosophy. Serato is the more straight forward system aimed at the people who came from turntables and want to continue to DJ the way they have always done. Traktor is more about adding a level of production/performance to the DJ experience (live remixing, etc) and offers a vast amount of customization options. You just need to do the research and discover which system fits you better. spoken absolutely perfectly, fairly and accurately my friend
-
i can also you my vinyls with serato thats cool to so serato hands down
-
factz i got serato and traktor but i always do my shows with serato and i love it
-
The way I see it, the platform isn't relative to the skill set of the DJ. I believe a good DJ would be able to use any software without a confirmation bias coming into play.
-
Seratos for champs
VDJs are for fake ass djs abusing the sync button. -
i still prefer virtual dj over serato.............simply because virtual dj has better search option compare to serato, also why do i need to buy serato video while in virtual dj it comes as one package......
-
can you use traktor without internet?
-
I was watching your series on scratching but i noticed that I'm not able to reproduce that same vinyl sound when using a controller. I'm not sure if it's VDJ or the fact I'm using a controller, any advice would be much appreciated. Times like those make me want to go back to using the old school method.

The only thing Serato has in common with IOS (Apple) is that they want you to pay for every little thing. Serato wants you to pay extra for all these plugins, effects and features that come standard with VDJ. VDJ is more like IOS (Apple) because they are the leaders in innovation. Serato is like Android where they copy what all the leaders are doing and introduce these features way after everyone else. If you like the way Serato looks you can get that skin for VDJ.

Virtual DJ has 1000's of skins and life time update with no extra cost ever.

Rekordbox FTW

i have no idea y peple say that virtual dj can dj for you or make you a better dj i have been using the VDJ since it was automix up up VDJ8 and the one thing i loved about it is 100% mobile 100% customizable and the technology is way more advance than the others.
Sir there is no softwear that makes someone beat macth perfectly you have to have that basic knowledge of DJing and i must say i love how the developers are marketing the softwear to music lovers in hole not just dj and its a great learning tool because it works with no added devices.
LOVE YOUR TUT AND KNOWLEDGE SHARING EVEN THO IT WAS SOMEWHAT BIASED BUT IM NOT WORRIED ABOUT THAT CAUSE U MADE IT CLEAR IN THE BEGINING OF THE VIDEO. -
thats a very good point think am just gonna stay with my wax and my Stanton's , but these 21 century djs can do alot more then a vinyl DJ
-

First and foremost thank you for being professional about this!! A lot of people will be biased and honestly it really just does come down to a matter of preference. That being said I used both Serato and Virtual DJ. I have to say after a few years I'm hooked on Virtual DJ and I'll explain why. Virtual DJ Evolves with you....meaning when you can think of specific features or ways to improve upon the software its an actual person on the other end reading and dissecting your suggestions or whatever. I play live a lot and whether I used timecodes or I use a midi controller my performance is always outstanding and sound quality is always on point. That being said the older version which was Virtual DJ 7 that was what was available when this video was made. 8.2.....think about it for a second....8.2. All this means is steady improvement. Back then they started off with way too much. Now its refined. Timecodes don't skip out at all. I use a DJM-900 NXS2 as a controller and technics 1210's for turntables. The whole night I don't have any problems with my software or hardware. I'd say for those having doubts just be mindful that this software always and I mean always has improvements to be made no matter who makes it. Once again it all comes down to what works for you! For me it just turns out that VDJ 8.2 was better than I thought it was. Check out the pitch lock feature if you download it. I know Serato/SL doesn't have this.
