thellalucky: 'cuz not everybody had access to old pipe or wants to waste the time, effort and energy it takes to find that stuff. It isn't always green to try to be green. And reusing material as it is (without melting it down or grinding it up, etc) is called upcycling, not recycling. The person who throws the pipe in to the trash would be the person creating waste, not the person buying the new pipe. Also, the VOC content of paint is pretty low compared to just a few years ago. And, depending on where that pipe came from, it may have been used with chemicals that are no longer legal. There's room for everybody when you open your mind to the possibilites.

why not just use Real aged iron, then you are also recycling and reusing instead of
adding to landfill and/or waste? Not to mention adding VOCs to environment as well as spending the money on this paint,seems counter intuitive and senseless.
