Microsoft Surface Pro 3 x Serato DJ (test)
Tricks, Ratschläge, Online, Reparieren, Landwirtschaft, Landwirtschaft Maschine
Microsoft Surface Pro 3 x Serato DJ Microsoft calls it "the tablet that can replace your laptop" and the Surface Pro 3 is indeed far from being a normal tablet. It's a 12" tablet shaped computer running on Windows 8.1 Pro with an i5 processor, an 256Gb SSD hard drive, full-size USB3.0 port and a lot more interesting features! What I want to know is if the Surface Pro 3 could be an option (for me) to replace my laptop and use it when I DJ and make music. I was given the opportunity to test the Surface Pro 3 (with Serato DJ) and you can check out the results right here. Good and nice review. I hade the same question today. Small follow up? Have your tried the Surface Pro 4 with Win 10, and the same setup?
-
I liked the music and the review. Thanks!
-
What laptop is next to the surface pro
-
Very helpful review thank you!
-
For future videos: please remove the music while you're speaking. It's distracting.
-
Very. Very interesting.
-
Great video, motivated me to update my laptop to a new windows with touchscreen.
-
or u can use a mouse or make the text display bigger in surface pro 3 setting then go back to serato dj and it will be bigger
-
change the resolution of the surface an you own
-
The small screen issue can be fixed by enlarging your surface pro screen to the maximum. The serato program screen automatically becomes bigger ..

Nice stuff man. I love seeing REAL DJ's who can actually DJ (scratch etc) We have way too many Traktor/Virtual DJ Dj's here in our clubs and venues in Australia. Can you come here and show em' how it's done? Also, isn't dragging and dropping on the touchscreen similar to dragging and dropping on the MBP trackpad? I don't like that there is no separate button/s on the Mac laptops, so if I'm dragging and dropping and don't make it to where I want to drop the file I can't lift my finger to continue moving the mouse, as it let's go of the click. I use a mouse with my MBP so I would do the same with a Surface Pro, using a USB hub of course.

TLM!
I'm loving your contribution mate, and since I ain't paying for it I think it's only fair I give something back in some way, shape or form haha.
PROBLEM: SP3 HAS ONLY ONE USB PORT WHEN I NEED THREE+ (SERATO + DICERS + EXTERNAL HARD DRIVES)
I've found that the SP3 is solid with Serato Scratch Live (I have the SSL1), BUT the MAIN problem is that it only has ONE USB port, which is a problem for 90% of DJ's in my opinion! Personally I don't like storing music on my hard drive, I prefer keeping it on external devices with back ups. Secondly, a lot of people use USB MIDI controllers such as the Novation Dicers. These require a minimum of 3 USB ports... but the SP3 only has 1.
COMPLICATION: SERATO HARDWARE DOESN'T WORK THROUGH USB HUB.
Okay so before you say it I already tried a USB hub. I can't remember the make or anything but it was powered and it didn't work; it just gave me an error message which I also can't remember but essentially the Serato hardware needs to be plugged directly into the machine as it needs the full whack of whatever it is that comes through the USB port (whereas if you have a hub, it's being shared out across all the new ports... you get me?). MAYBE it was just the hub I bought because I think I've seen other videos of the Serato working fine through a USB hub on the SP3.
SOLUTION: DOCKING STATION
Anyway, my solution was the SP3 docking station. The docking station adds USBs to your machine like a hub but the dock itself is plugged into the SP3 via the power connector which is also a data connector! Consequently, the USB port on the SP3 is left free for the SSL hardware while the 4/5 on the docking station for other things like dicers and external hard drives (depending on the dock you get there'll be either 4 or 5 ports on it). This saved me.
DISCLAIMER: DON'T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT
I only tried this with my SSL1 (with 9V power adapter), on windows 8.1 Pro. This might work on Windows 10, or with a better SSL box. If I get any more info on this, or if anybody can educate me and the community then post it!
Okay so maybe this isn't a problem for a lot of you but for those who can relate, the take home message is ALL HOPE IS NOT LOST! I almost wet the bed when I thought I spent all that money for something I couldn't use for DJ'ing.
Thanks for listening and I hope this has helped make your channel that little bit more informative! -
good job!

Hi!!! i've a question because i didn't speak English very well can i have answer easy hahah ...i've got a SP3 wiht Intel core I5 ans i would like to know if traktor scratch A6 is run wiht my PC thanks
-
what about lowering the resolution? I mean.. you get less "screen real state", but wouldn't that make the controls larger and easier to use on the touchscreen?
-
Does it run virtual dj?
-
thanks for the demo, well made and very clear. I'm using Serato with a Pioneer controller and seriously thinking of switching to a Surface Pro after seeing this.
