International B275 Tractor Cold Start
Tricks, Ratschläge, Online, Reparieren, Landwirtschaft, Landwirtschaft Maschine
It was 0*c or 32*F. It hasn't been started in 3 months, so the battery was dead, as always happens.

They were never made in 1976

Idles around 500rpm No?

We had a B-414. Only thing went wrong with it that I remember, was that the water pump seal went on it, so when you stopped it, the water would slowly piss out. Somebody hopped on it one afternoon to go baling hay and never bothered checking the water level, and overheated the #4 cylinder, so that put her out of commission for a few days while we waited for a cylinder liner and new rings to be ordered in. I got handed the job to fix it, so I also ordered in a new freakin' water pump. After that, never a problem. Great machine.

what is your name

International = Mc Cormik ?

How come it doesn't start if the glow plugs aren't on?
-
I switched to the Mercedes glow plugs and it fires up in 32 F weather in less than 15 seconds. Ever thought of putting a heat strip on the oil pan to keep it warm from the night before?
-
I have a B275 vintage 1961. I never even bother with the glow plugs, I just fire it up on either. Mine has seen some pretty hard service. It has a pto pump powered blower on the front and used to be used in Richmond Hill as a city sidewalk cleaner. I rebuilt one of these years ago. It would fire on the assembly lube the compression was so good!

Hey, didn't notice the link doesn't work anymore. Will try to see if I can find where I put the PDF files, If I don't send you a pm in a few days send me one and remind me about it.
-
Do you have a link to the Owners Manual? I just picked up a B-275 and would like to know what all those levers are supposed to do. Thanks Bart
-
Yep, not so much these days, found out why it starts so hard though, one glow plug dead and 3 only heating up after 30+ seconds when they should be heating up in less than 5 lol.
-
Its alive!!
-
Glad to see my B275 isn't the only one that sucks for starting in the cold... :( its a '59. I do like the canopy though. Considering upgrading to Mercedes glow plugs though.... seems like a cheap upgrade.

@natescamp we actually have two and a half of this model tractor and they are easier to pull start than start with starter
-
@natescamp ya its alomost easier to pull start it without glowplugs
-
@tssracing14 Yeah it's even hard to start when its real warm out without the sparkplugs. It will do it but it needs to turn over for quite a while
-
we have one that you have to put startin fluid in even wwhen its 90 degrees no glow plugs
-
@OzzInter Yeah we like to restore it a bit and keep it nice but we really don't have the time to do it, and the amount we use it it's not practical to store it under a tarp.
-
I wish it had the foot throttle option, then we could more easily put it under load. I bet it would sound nice the.
-
It's a pretty nice looking tractor, you got there. I guess you don't have a block heater eh? We got one on this and it speeds up the starting precess from near impossible to 3 minutes.
