515 FINE HOLD IT CLOSER INCREASE SPEED don't strain your paint unless its old and full of crap the tip is reversible it clogs just turn trigger turn back i get 2 tip-clogs a year and spray hundreds of gallons not an issue these days. this model sucks the only one worth a crap is the fine finish model.

Really enjoyed the video. I feel like the orange peel is due partly to the thickness of the latex. Maybe mixing in some flowtrol. Great points - I shoot latex with my wagner air sprayer - two problems 1. tons of overspray because it is basically hooked up to the output side of a vacuum cleaner & the air gets hot! I could NEVER imagine spraying indoors the way you did in your video - I was amazed that that was possible. Other times I shoot solvent based paint with my hvlp hooked up to my air compressor - that Graco gun looks HEAVY! Agree sort of about clean up of the water based products. With the wagner blowing hot air your time limit is maybe 20 min then you really need to break it down as much as possible and wash & scrub the parts - but I do the same with hvlp shooting poly or oil base and I spend a long time on the gun / needle etc to get it almost spotless then coat all the parts with gasoline. Appreciate the video!

you need to put the setting to 5 or better for latex paint . it'll get rid of the tiger stripes .it will give you better pressure .

Can anyone tell me the diffrence of graco 360, truecoat pro 2 and proshot 2?
-
Nice review Tim. Wondering if thinning the paint could have helped reduce the orange peel effect.
-
Where is your face mask, buddy?
-
The idea of a cordless unit seems amazing but the battery life issue sounds too cumbersome for any decent amount of spraying. I don't mind the cord on mine since I'm used to handling an air hose anyways.

To Eriks comment about the graco 360 model, I would stay away from that product all together. I returned one because the tiger stripping was so bad. I replaced with the graco true coat pro 2 and the stripping was considerably reduced. Again, lower volume setting on the dial and correct movement speed helps as well.

Hey tim,
Love your videos man!!!
In your opinion what is the best Handheld Sprayer on the market???
Thanks -
Hi Tim, may I ask how long is it to charge the battery?
Thanks -
I bought the corded model foreseeing the battery problem as I was planning to paint the outside of my shop. It is heavy so I need to come up with a solution. Something like they have on the hand fertilizer spreader which has a forearm support. The paint thickness, you will need to adjust the spray for best results. I sprayed one coat after adjusting and was VERY surprised how well it did. I did NOT need a second coat so it went very fast. This is two years later and it looks as good as the day I painted it. I just learned a trick I will try and see if it works as far as cleaning latex. They said to use a wash of 50% water and antifreeze. I did try this on an airless paint sprayer that had sat for 8 or so years and I was very surprised how well it worked. The sprayer was really gunked up. Next time I use the small Graco I'm going to try spraying the outside case with Pan Spray to see if cleanup will be easier. I like for it to look new when I store it.

Wow Tim,
I will definitely copy your literature spoken word to another phone so I can print and use often until I rhythmically do it perfect by memory.

Hello from California.. -
Hello Tim,
I so thank you for taking the time on sharing your new tool.
I had bought the Graco Pro II corded but not with the side dial. What I appreciated the most of your teachings, is Clean,Clean and Clean again.
Also that you actually Stored everything inside the liquid cleaner! I didn't know I could do that. No wonder your tool works so great!
My question, You mentioned You used a water base paint, could you have sprayed out all, than use the mineral spirits?
Hope that's not a dumb question. New at this equipment. I want to make sure I use and Clean and store right.
Where did you buy the tip in one of your answers mentioning tip 315? Would Lowes have that tip too?
Sincerely thanks a million! -
I love mine!! I need a tip for oil base (rustolium paint) ....:) GOOD Straining...

tiger stripes are because your moving to fast

Hey Tim thanks for the video. Had a question on the Tiger striping. You mentioned in the video that the stripes would go away when the paint dried. Did you feel that they went away? They looked visible to me in the shot you showed with the dried primer. I have an older Graco Truecoat that is corded and does not have an adjustable power knob. I painted a bunch of molding before installation and my biggest complaint is the striping which is still visible after drying (2 coats). Probably not something we will notice once the baseboard is installed but I am worried about seeing it on the door and window casing.
I agree with what you said that the striping is caused by the pump cycling. Any experience with the larger gun and hose spray systems? Is the pump cycling as big an issue with these systems? Not really efficient on a small job since they basically take a gallon to prime but I could live with that if the striping went away.
Last comment, you mentioned in the video that the sprayer came with at 515 tip and you got a second tip to reduce the fan size (a 513 based on one of your replies). I believe the first number, a 5 on both your tips, is the fan size doubled (10" fan size for both your tips) and the second 2 numbers refer to the orifice size. I believe your second tip is designed for stains and other materials that are not as viscous as latex paint hence the smaller orifice size. The green handle normally indicates a stain tip.
Have you or anyone else experimented with thinning the paint so the pump wouldn't have to work as hard to reduce the tiger striping effect? Also thinking about maybe getting a larger orifice size to reduce back pressure and moving faster to reduce potential for too much paint and runs. -
Thank you for your quick reply and support I will try your recommendations.
-
I really had high hopes for this product but have been left really disappointed.
I purchased new tips followed the instructions this sprayer still sprays with dots and sometimes spits.
Any advice PLEASE -
Tim in your opinion are you happy with your cordless version or do you think the corded version what be better as far as not having to worry about run time?also how do you like the built quality of these units do they seen like a toy or a pro tool?touve been a great help truly appreciate your info in my quest to buy the right tool the first time around!
