How to Use Chalk Paint in a Paint Sprayer: HomeRight Finish Max Pro Tutorial - Thrift Diving

http://www.thriftdiving.com - People often wonder if you can use Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in a paint sprayer. The answer is yes. It works quite well. In this video, I show you how I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in the color Provence to quickly and easily paint this pedestal table my mom gave me :). PROS: The finish is very smooth, without a lot of overspray (so very little chalk paint is wasted, yay!). If you have to paint several pieces in the same shade you can move quickly to get them done in no time. If you have furniture with intricate details or lattice, a paint sprayer is the way to go. Set-up out of the box is simple and ready to use immediately. Cleanup requires very few pieces to remove. CONS: Most paint sprayers require you to thin the paint with water first. I usually do about 1-2 cups of water per 1/4 cup of water. Use the viscosity test cup that comes with the paint sprayer, making sure the paint runs through the cup in about 30 seconds average. Cleaning is easy, but is more than just rinsing a brush. But the time you save by using the paint sprayer versus a brush makes up for it. Use the paint sprayer on medium to large and intricate pieces. TO BUY THE FINISH MAX PRO: http://amzn.to/1CYMLAn (aff link, thanks for your support). did you wax it afterwards? if so what wax do you use

I subscribed because YOU and your SON are a ray of sunshine in this cynical world! Besides the fact that I like to do what you do (salvage good stuff; )
Thank you for your efforts! ! -
What Ratio of Water to paint did you use. I need to thin the paint but I don't know much water to mix in. Also how much paint did you end up using as it can be quite wasteful using a spray painter - would like to use one myself. Thanks - Really nice vid btw.

Did you wax your project after? I've seen when people hand paint with chalk paint they go back over with wax. Is that necessary?

Hello. I watched and liked your vid a while back and inspired me to try to do it myself. BUT . . Please help me! I make my own chalky paint and it works great when hand applied but now I finally was able to buy my very own used air compressor thinking it could make my life easier or I could make more pieces in less time. When I went to the hardware store to buy the paint gun I was told it could not work! That paint guns are for varnishes or oil base paints that are much thinner and with less viscosity. Also, that I would not find the kind of paint gun I needed locally (I live abroad)!!! That my best bet was to buy the kind they sell at Sam's Club that comes with the compressor attached. I have heard that those last only but a few times so that's why I bought a mid size compressor. I was shocked to hear I could not use a regular paint gun with my "new" compressor!!
I then went to my local Sherwin Williams and was in for more surprises. There they told me that even the air compressor would not work since air compressors for latex paints are different than those used for automotive or other solvent based paints!!!!!! What can you tell me about that? What kind are you using here and how did you managed to work with ASCP??
I sure hope you can give me some advice !!!! -
You're Son is adorable!
-
Did you thin down the chalk paint so it would run smoothly through the sprayer?
-
What would the difference be in this sprayer and the heavy duty sprayer you used in the garage?
-
Priceless yours son to cute for words! welcome back! What's chalk paint? What the difference between that and regular paint.
