Please watch: "How to repair a cracked drywall ceiling trick! Foot through Attic Drywall Ceiling Easy Fix! (part 1)" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3tCQy4-Emw -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- On this project I'll demonstrate for you, how to spray and blend a popcorn ceiling texture while demonstrating on an actual ceiling repair. Prep- After I moved a few things out of the work zone, I covered the floor with 2 mil plastic and created a plastic bubble using .31 mil plastic. Next, I scraped the area of the ceiling where the popcorn texture was coming down. It appeared that the texture was only coming down where it was sprayed on the drywall paper. The popcorn was stuck just fine to the areas that had joint compound. After the scraping I like to prime the area with a can of Kilz stain blocking primer. This also helps prevent any water stains to bleed through where the new meets the old popcorn. Once, the primer was dry, I did two skim coats of mud to blend the scraped edge using USG Easy Sand 20 minute quick setting joint compound. After the 20 minute mud set up it was time to spray the popcorn/acoustic ceiling texture using my smaller hopper and 15 gallon compressor. I first concentrate on getting the bulk of the new surface then I blend the popcorn texture into the old popcorn texture from the repair line out lightly feathering at the very end to create a gradual fade into the ceiling repair.
