Hi, my machine stopped working last week, all the lights went off except the one indicating 'Door'.
The lights would come back on and It would allow me to start, run for about 10 seconds then cut out again.
I had a look at the door mechanism and it flashed the error E40. Does this sound like the replacing the washing machine door lock would fix this.

I have what looks to be the same machine as that one. I think I have a dodgy control module. Can it be installed without having to be programmed with specific model data? It is expensive enough, without having to pay someone else to fit it!

@JIMDP25 I would say either the door lock or the metal latch on the door itself. Both are very easy to replace.

@eSparesVideo well my aeg works but refuses to lock so you can open it while working what do i need a new door lock ?

@niklar6 Hello. If the door is either a) stuck in the locked position and won’t open or b) refuses to lock closed. However if the door won’t c) automatically lock when in a wash cycle this could either be the door lock or (the unfortunately much more expensive) control module.
