I own a generation 1 and 2. Stopped using them, too unreliable, spit too much. Good when they work properly but you just never know when they are going to start playing up. I use a Graco 795, 395 and a Graco 9.5 HVLP gun and don't have a problem with them but just find these cordless things more trouble than they are worth. Will sell the gen 1 gun but keep the gen 2 as I'm sure I'll use it somewhere at sometime. It works well fifty per cent of the time but thats no good when you're trying to earn a living.

Definitely I agree with DRitz78, the overspray is a lot more than how much they claim, plus it takes a huge quantity of paint to accomplish the same job compared to a small foam roll, I had to use more than twice the volume needed to paint an 8 feet France picket fence section. I hate to say this but I personally experienced this problem, I had to put it away after spending further 20 minutes to clean the tool and go back using a roll to finish 165' of France picket fence. I used the smaller tip supplied standard with this Graco Airless spray gun.

Ill just use my airless....

I own 2 TrueCoat Plus II's and have put about 20-30 gallons of paint through them for both big and small projects. First, the overspray on these things is tremendous. Way more than a conventional airless sprayer. You must tape off with wide paper on adjoining areas. Even then the overspray is potentially a disaster. For example, I painted a set of entry doors in a portico that had yellow walls. Taping off with 12" of paper did not stop overspray from hitting up to 3' away. Forget about using one on the outside of a house with even the smallest breeze.
Secondly, these things also 'spit' like crazy. Heavy latex paints do not atomize evenly and when the larger pieces of paint hit the surface, they cause little round divots that woodworkers call fish eyes. Naturally, you want to begin and end spraying off the surface you are painting, but my experience has been that even in the middle of the spray they are spitting. The overall look is better than brush marks, but just be aware that the finish isn't smooth like a car finish.
They also dump a lot of paint quickly, especially with the .517 tip. It is a hassle to feel like you are just getting started and have to stop to fill the canister again. I bought the backpack which holds over a gallon and that is an improvement, but why not just get out a regular sprayer at that point. It does come in handy when you are up on a ladder because you don't have to drag 20' of hose.
These also are a workout - think about how much a quart of paint weighs on top of the weight of the gun. Holding the unit after a few minutes at arms length requires some strength, and even then, frequent short rest periods. It is not uncommon for me to use both hands to keep the gun steady.
There is a learning curve to using these, but they can be very handy. Even with the spitting, I find them indispensable for entry doors and garage doors. Just plan on at least 25% more prep time taping everything off, using about 30% more paint, and until you get fast, about 30-45 minutes of cleaning the gun. -

This thing is fast and does a good job but it is heavy as, i hurt my back doing a fence and had to have a couple of days off work.

Why anyone would paint a ceiling like that is beyond me

nice little gun. might come in handy. I have 4 large Graco paint sprayers for work. lol, he was not painting like a pro. spray the corners first, then start at the top of the wall and spray from one end to the other end without stopping. not those little baby strokes he was doing. that will leave obvious paint lines on the wall that you can see from angles in different light. then move down an overlap the next one a little. spraying with his face that close to his ceiling and gun will leave him with a white face from the mist falling. I always use my 2 finger trigger Graco gun with an extension wand screwed on to do ceilings. Love all my Graco equipment. :)

Save your cash and get the Harbor Freight electric spray gun for 19.99. it's the best bar none.
-
what does it weight? full? if your looking at your whole house trim and all your going to hold that machine for 2 hours it could hurt with all that weight.
-
I own a Graco X7 Pro and it frickin rocks.......sprayed a 1600 sq.ft fence yesterday in 2 hours. Easiest $1200 I ever made.

This ugly thing takes two hands to operate. No, thanks. I'll stick with Fuji HVLP. Even their mini Mite series is light years ahead.

Save your hard earned $$ folks
Invest in a good quality brush n roller
These sprayers must be cleaned, cleaned and cleaned again, then stored away with proper pump saver.
Even then, because of the poor design and cheap plastic components you still may run into dramas with spray pattern etc

UMMMM I am a professional painter and I prefer Spraytech any day over a Graco...And that sprayer sucks ass

I am tempted to try this. I work maintenance for a large city and have several doors to paint (not all at once). They are throughout parks in the city and need to be painted periodically. Does anybody know if the battery would hold a charge long enough to paint around 3 or 4 doors at a time?

I purchased mine for $199! It's worth every penny!
-
they are good for small areas but Wastw of time in big section(charge and Recharge)
-
This sprayer is perfect for trim! Beats brushing and it saves so much time. I have a commercial cart sprayer and this guy.... I can paint a house in one day by myself.
