Starts better than our 98 Kubota 3 banger in 30*F weather...
-
ford tractors never had glow plugs they had a heater system
-
Excess fuel button plus a little heat always works. Hate to see people on here endlessly grinding tractors over on the starter trying to get them to go..........
-
Excess fuel button is enough usually enough most times for ours. We love our old Fords..
-
yea..sounds nice...!
-
built ford tough
-
Nothing wrong with that diesel engine ! I was surprised that it was as quiet as it was too.
-
Really Cool. they are still doing job though they are old tractors. but they are said to drink oil more when you compare MF 165 168
-
Awesome my dad owns Fordson major 5000
-
Cool video.
Great tractor.
Thanks. -
Good old ford 5000, sounds well!! The body work is very rusty though, typical ford tin, always gets bad!!!!!!!
-
Some new videos! Including one where this tractor loses its ROPS canopy!

I suppose that glow-plug was as standard on these in 1965 since it's documented on original user's manual.
And yes, it makes cold start little easier, IF battery is ok. -
Never saw one of those with 'glow' facility before. Only saw the 'excess fuel' for cold start. They were always pigs to start below zero. Glow makes a big difference I see..

Yep, warming up is needed, during the night temp was lower than -20celsius, so I guess that old iron was still on those temperatures when starting. And there's about 40litres of oil in total to be warmed up before "real" work starts.
-
Hey BOOB BADGER, it's a diesel, they don't have carburetors.
-
Now that's the way to do it, he lets the tractor warm up without to much throttle.
-
lol
-
Yep! At least you get sweaty when you operate it in a hurry, no power steering...
-
Thanks! And it's really reliable!
