DIY Lawn Fertilizer - Replacing TruGreen for my yard.
Tricks, Ratschläge, Online, Reparieren, Landwirtschaft, Landwirtschaft Maschine
I've used Tru-Green lawn service for several years because my DIY attempts were not working well enough. TruGreen has done a very good job with my yard. Both weed control and fertilization have been great. However, I'm a DIY kind of guy, frustrated that I couldn't do as well as the professionals. So, this year, after some winter research, I've decided to take on this project again. This video shows the chemicals I purchased, as well as showing the John Deere 1025R and Rural King Sprayer to apply the first treatment. even when you're working with chemicals that do not interact with glass, you still pour in your water first. water first = water splash when you pour in your chemicals. if you pour chemicals in first, your chemicals will splash when you pour in your water. safety first

I think you have too much money to buy a big tractor like that living in a subdivision

That's an awesome John deere!!

BOILER-UP! Did you consider converting pull behind sprayer to 3-point mount?
Completely envious of your DEERE! -
Some things you might want to consider. 1. If the weed/feed didnt work, I guarantee you didnt put it down correctly. Even then, most reputable companies like Scotts will give you your money back when you screw up. 2. Buying a John Deere tractor and a sprayer for a small suburan lawn is more cost effective than TrueGreen? You could have put the money you spent in an investment, take out yearly interest, paid TrueGreen and still had your initial investment. (You just wanted a tractor!) 3. Did you calibrate your sprayer--NO. You need to know the exact speed to drive to determine the "rate of delivery". I agree with your "Do Your Own Pest Control" advice but the bulk of your information is dangerously suspect. Not measuring the liquid nitrogen (incidently --it's not time released like 99% of the granules on the market) and not having calibrated equipment is poor and marginally dangerous information. Put me in the thumbs down column.

Hope you don't regret me subscribing after all the questions.. I found the 20-0-0, but when I google the other 2, there is a list to choose from, and not sure which you are referring to

So I used the ween and feed in late March..grass is decent overall..what should be my first application with the sprayer..I have 2/3 of a acre...I live in northern Indiana..any suggestions..normally July/August everyone's grass in our addition starts turning brown..assuming developer used low grade seed to start lawns. Not sure where to start?

So, what are you gonna do to your yard, this fall..I'm going to get a sprayer, just not sure what to put down, and when, and how much. Boiler up..My daughter is on the track team now...

What model john Deere is that?
Phosphorous makes for healthy grass roots so I'd recommend you get some fertilizer with all 3 numbers above 0 -
Unfortunately, the straight nitrogen without replenishing potassium and micronutrients is essentially like junkfood. Basically, trying to body build on snickers bars and cocoa puffs. It also contributes to nitrogen stress when the weather warms. Bit it IS basically a tru green type program.

Miracle Grow is 24% nitrogen 8% Phosphate and 16% Potash and other mirco nutrients and guaranteed not to burn. It is also cheaper and you can find it at just about any Home and garden store.

another must for spray herbicides, dont cut your lawn a day or 2 before, and once you spray a day or 2 after spraying, it takes time for the chemical to make it to the roots its not really quick to get there. without mowing for a day or 2 you have more foliage for the spray to hit more of the weed your killing. conditions in Virginia right now, rain in last 9 days straight, hate it. also getting humid. time to start spraying for diseases/fungus.
