DIY Home Shop Spray Paint Fail ~ Dupli-Color Perfect Match ~ Repaint Process Video http://www.1OwnerCarGuy.com We after the first paint that we put on dried we saw that it really didn't match and I didn't want to leave it that way. I decided to re sand it and put a different paint on it that was a different color. I had a hard time decided which color was closer but I think I picked the best one and proceeded to repaint the hood with the new color. You can see at the end how well it came out. I am happy with it. I have a question, i put one of my fenders on y car with just the primer on it and now its dirty, can i just washing it clean and than paint it? and also i put a fender on without adding the clear coat, can i just clean it than add the clear coat
-
CAN I ADD MY CLEAR COAT A DAY LATER
-
one owner car guy you're a piece of shit
-
Why don't you change out the spray nozzles from the primer can to the Dupli-color can?
That way you get the good spray -
Fuck you are annoying as shit.
-
why just do the hood while the rest looks like shit? (hood still looks like shit)
-
I like 600-800 grit400 is way too agro. and you can layer different shades of paint to get a pretty good match. my last hood job I did due to stone chips (cause im cheap) lasted 5 years. just now is it beginning to fade and the clear to fail. not bad eh. might have to redo this summer
-
Make sure you tape up the windows and the fenders so you don't get overspray. Don't worry about the Jaguar for sale sitting 10 feet away from the hood your painting though. hahaha priceless
-
I reckon its because you haven't added the clear coat yet, will be a close match once complete
-
just paint it already jesus
-
From my observation, the left fender looks to be a lighter color than the door and other panels. This makes me think the fender has been repaired. The clear can also yellow with age, in addition to UV fade.
-
if that was me i would of personally put maybe 2 coats of that other white on top of what you had! then it brings white colour back and fades the yellow look a bit but not to much that its pure white like the can sample you done. then clear coat it to finish

How's the durability with that Duplicolor Perfect Match system? I picked up a free 8' fiberglass truck cap for my '89 F250. Dark blue like my truck but paint is really faded and the clear coat has peeled off most of the cap. I don't need it perfect, just closer than it is. I realize it's probably not the best system for painting fiberglass.

Its a banana beige bonnet now 😆😆😆
-
I reckon go the second colour 👍
-
The first color you had was the right color, you just needed to let it cure over night that's all then clear coat it. Awesome job either way

Nobody doing spray paint posts how much paint they use. How many cans does it take to put a good coat on your hood. I want to do a roof and trunk.
Thanks, -
It will match if you get the paint code from the truck with the can. it's right on the lid. I've had to touch up with that stuff 3 times and every time i do it it matches perfect before clear and looks exact after clear coat. Then you have to wet sand and buff it out after or it won't look right in the sun light.

Nice VID man. Just purchased some, and hope it color matches right for me. Over time the paint will fade, but I found the most accurate way to tell, is to look at the vehicles floor boards. The floor boards is a great indicator of what the vehicle body paint looked like when it rolled off the assembly line. Granted they are not all rusted up.
The color is a lot easier to match up, and will give you a really good idea how much the body paint has changed/faded as well. I pulled my color code from the glove box, and just matched it up on the website, and they gave me a can number to purchase. Thanks again man!
