The tip with the dynamic eq is pure gold. I think I'll use that in production as well, since it saves so much time fiddling with eqs.
-
pro tip-you should have used abletons "mid side" eq to have more control over eliminating resonance in specific frequency.. your welcome ;-)
-
thanks for the video!
what about video 3? -
What skin are you using in Live?
-
excellent use of language and super sized kudos for repeating "what sounds good to your ears". I know so many people with the "best gear" but all they make is crap. They may have the knowledge of what does what where, but they don't know how to apply it in a musical sense.

Why are the green chroma cables not for sale? I can't find them anywhere.

WHAT THE FUCK KIND OF IDIOT USES ABLETON LEAVING THE "INFO" BOX ACTIVE
YES, You forgot to "TURN-OFF" "INFO" in Ableton.

i like the new format of he videos. super consumer chic, ironic very, but I'm glad you guys are growing and able to make videos like this merging the analogue and digital, hopefully making production better and better. thanks for the education.

WHERE IS MAD ZACH!

Cool
What laptop is that ? -
OK got all TR-8 mapped to individual channels in Ableton, and acting as a control surface - but big question is:
If I am using TR-8 as Audio Interface - how do I hear the effects etc from ableton 'live' when I trigger sounds from the TR-8 (audio is going via USB at moment - does it need to be via audio outs & into another sound card to setup like this tutorial???) -
uffff omg. laptop name ?

I'm genuinely curious about this computer's performance as far as music is concerned, is it fine?

All of my early productions were produced in FL studio. When I get back in my producer chair, I've considered going with Abelton. I really like the idea of Live with a TR-8 and/or MX-1. I have a couple pieces of AIRA gear, but Abelton still doesn't support VST3, which conflicts with the AIRA gear I own.
I'd like for my sound to be as organic as possible. That means creating my own sample catalog. Part of what you buy with Abelton is the massive sample catalog, yet I don't want to be a "lego producer."
I've been reading about Abelton not supporting VST 3 for years now. I'm not sold on Push, as I think the MX-1 is more creative. Part of me is thinking just go with Bitwig because it's entire platform was built using newer coding techniques than other, older DAWs.
I'm done with FL studio because a lot of the VSTs are gimmicky. There is a right way to do things, and a wrong way to do things. I see production of house music more like engineering, and I want the most sophisticated software available.
The one thing I really liked about this video was the use of the Razer Blade. You always see Apple products used these days, but the Razer is a well built device using WIndows, and I feel it's better suited for a club atmosphere as well as being more functional from a software support standpoint.
In closing, Yes, there is a ton of indecision in my post. However, I'm putting my entire life into house production, and it's important I build my career on a foundation that'll be viable today and tomorrow. -
so easy to understand when you know some basics of ableton. thats cool.
