Malloy continues his assignment as acting Watch Commander, so Reed is paired with Officer Dana Hall (played by Jo Ann Pflug, while Officer Wells treats the new policewoman with the typical (for the 1970s) "not the woman's place" attitude, Reed treats her with respect and they go on patrol, where they encounter a underage DUI suspect with an uncooperative mother, locate and search a car stripping operation, and arrest numerous young people who riot at an outdoor rock concert. Jo Ann Pflug was hot and still is. She was Lt. Dish in MASH which is where I first saw her in a strange double bill of MASH & Patton at a theatre in Colma,Ca that no longer exists.

That mean witch jabbed that poor guy with a stck. That wasn't fair. I think she hates men.

Well, yeah. I mean, any female officer is just as good as any male officer. Right? I mean, if a guy decides to fight a cop, then the female is just as likely to be able to subdue him, Right? And if he runs, then a female officer can catch him just as easily as a male officer. Right? Females are equal, and "Ed Wells" was just being an asshole for not agreeing that the new female is equal. Right? ( 2:45 )
So at 21:30 she gets clubbed with what looks like a 4" x 4" by a guy who's obviously twice as strong as she is, and yet she pins him all by herself and puts the cuffs on him. Women are equal. Right. -
The boy who was arrested for DUI (Tommy) was also on Saturday Night Fever lol he had those very tall platform shoes lol

Leslie, thanks so much for posting these. I use to watch these back in the early 70's when I was a boy. Have always loved the show. I like them even better than Dragnet. Even though I like Dragnet too, I always thought the acting was better on Adam-12. Conversations flowed more naturally........Wells was a really jerk, but Dana, though a nice lady, had her own brand of "female chauvinism". All Reed was doing was being nice to her and she kept calling him a "closet chauvinist". Funny, but sad in a way. Though women needed to be treated with respect and equality, it's a shame that some aspets of feminism went so far as to say women had to deny part of their feminine side to be effective in society. Also the dogma that all men are inherently sexist. The bad parts for feminism have done a lot of damage to society and relationships over the years. Sad. Anyway (lol), great show and great episode!

It's always interesting (and sad) how television always portrays men versus women. Doesn't matter what the scenario is, they always, Always, ALWAYS make the males out to be complete jerks and the women are always innocent little lambs free of any and all wrongdoing. Doesn't matter what decade it is, it's always the saaaaame old shit. Although I don't exactly subscribe to the way Ed Wells approached it, he was right about the issue of female police officers having to deal with male suspects who are way bigger than they are - especially back in the 70's and 80's before all the electronic gadgets police relying on today to protect themselves. Back then females had to physically tangle with males who weighed 250-300lbs, many of which could give male officers a run for their money and I can see where the male cops would have reservations about having to "pick up the slack" for tiny female officers who wanna play cop just because the system says they can be police officers and do everything the men can. That's just my own opinion about that...

She screwed up at 6:00. She didn't cuff the DUI punk

35 years ago when I went to the Academy there was about 25-28 guys and three females in our class. 99% of the guys had moustaches and I think those poor girls wish they could grow moustaches. It was a totally "macho" group but those females worked harder than almost any guy there to Prove Themselves. It took courage for those first women brave enough to push through the macho wall. Looking back I really respected them, but couldn't say so at the time.
